Creative Engine

Brand Guidelines & Visual Identity

Brand Foundation

Creative Engine is built on the belief that good design is invisible—bad design screams. We create with precision, purpose, and a warm confidence that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Our mission is to make everything look like it was made by people who care. Every detail matters, from the smallest typography choice to the largest visual statement.

Brand Voice & Tone

Precision-focused and detail-oriented with strong typographic sensibility. We see when something is 2px off and it matters to us.

Voice Characteristics

  • Confident but approachable: We know our craft without being arrogant
  • Detail-oriented: Small things matter because they add up
  • Direct and clear: No fluff or unnecessary complexity
  • Playfully serious: We care deeply but don't take ourselves too seriously

Tone Guidelines

Good design is invisible—bad design screams. Our tone reflects this philosophy: clear, purposeful communication that supports rather than overshadows the work itself.

Photography

CE photography embodies our taste DNA: warm palettes, high contrast, and intentional composition. Every image must earn its place and prove its point within 2 seconds of viewing.

Visual Preferences

  • Color palettes: Coral, golden yellow, sage, deep navy, warm cream
  • Contrast: High-contrast typography and clear focal points
  • Style: Illustration over stock photography when possible
  • Texture: Emphasis on materiality and tactile qualities
  • Tone: Playful confidence—serious craft without self-importance

Avoid

  • Cool grays and corporate blues (sterile feeling)
  • Generic stock photography (soulless)
  • Neon and fluorescent colors (cheap appearance)
  • Black backgrounds as default choice
  • Blurry, low-resolution, or illegible images

Cropping & Composition

Find the visual that proves the point. Crop with intent—tight enough to focus, wide enough for context. Ask: if someone sees this for 2 seconds, do they understand?

Brand Applications

Consistent application across all touchpoints ensures brand recognition and maintains quality standards.

Layout Principles

  • Max text width: 680px for optimal readability
  • Container width: 1100px maximum
  • Section spacing: 40px between major sections
  • Borders: 1px solid #eeeeee only—no shadows or gradients
  • Border radius: Maximum 4px
  • Weights: 400 and 500 only—no bold (700)

Typography Requirements

  • Typekit integration: ffj8sbd must be loaded for Larken
  • Font stack: Larken (display), Inter (body), JetBrains Mono (code)
  • Hierarchy: One display size, one body size, one label size per composition
  • Line height: Generous spacing for readability

Applied Brand

Real-world applications and mockups showing the brand system in action. This section demonstrates how our guidelines translate into practical implementations.

Mockup Standards

  • High-fidelity representations of actual use cases
  • Consistent lighting and perspective across mockup series
  • Focus on brand elements within realistic contexts
  • Quality that matches our visual standards

Application Areas

  • Digital presentations and slide decks
  • Web interfaces and landing pages
  • Documentation and brand guidelines
  • Social media and digital marketing materials
  • Print materials and stationery systems

Each mockup should tell a story about how the brand lives in the world, demonstrating both visual impact and practical functionality.
