Curious Endeavor · Vision / Mission / Values Optimization

Through the
Know Better Lens

eToro's current vision, mission, and values were written for 2007 — a social-trading startup seeking accessibility. Here's how to rewrite them for a public company that owns collective intelligence.

What's Wrong With the Current Language

The existing statements are generic, feature-focused, and tonally lightweight — exactly what Yoni's directive ("more futuristic and smart, less lightweight and fun") tells us to kill. Every word was checked against the Brand Platform v3 construction rules.

"Simple and transparent" — commodity promise. Every broker from Revolut to Robinhood says this. It's a Know More world, not a "simple" world.
"Open the global markets" — Robinhood energy. The vocabulary palette explicitly kills "democratize" as Robinhood's word. "Open" is its softer cousin.
"Trade and invest" — leading with "trade" signals short-term, gamified behavior. Know Why says: conviction over trading.
"Tools you need" — transactional relationship. The thesis moves us from "we give you tools" to "we make you smarter." Transactional → transformational.
"Empowering you" — the most generic value in fintech. Revolut, Robinhood, Monzo, and Nubank all say this. Zero differentiation.
"Better together" — directionally right (maps to collective), but sounds like a Walmart tagline. Needs the eToro-specific proof layer: 3.5M funded accounts, 20 years, 5,000 PIs.

Vision — Before & After

The vision lives at the Brand Truth layer — it's the north star. The current one reads like a campaign from 2011.

✕ Current (2007)
✦ Know Better
"A world where everyone can trade and invest in a simple and transparent way."
Problems: "Everyone" is undifferentiated. "Trade" leads over "invest." "Simple and transparent" is a commodity hygiene factor, not a vision. No mention of the collective, the intelligence layer, or the 20-year data moat.
"A world where every investor has the intelligence to invest with conviction."
Why it works: Replaces "simple and transparent" (commodity) with intelligence + conviction (Know More + Know Why). Swaps "everyone can trade" for "every investor" — subtle shift from trading to investing, from access to capability. The word "conviction" embeds Know Why directly.
Expression mapping: "Intelligence" → Know More · "Conviction" → Know Why · "Every investor" → Know Who (the collective is implied)

Mission — Before & After

The mission lives at the Philosophy layer — how we operate, what we believe. It should map directly to the three expressions.

✕ Current
✦ Know Better
"To open the global markets, connect you to leading investors and give you the tools you need to grow your knowledge and wealth."
Problems: "Open the global markets" = Robinhood's lane. "Connect you to leading investors" buries the most defensible asset under generic language. "Give you tools" is transactional. The 20-year data moat — eToro's single biggest differentiator — doesn't appear at all.
"To turn 20 years of collective investing intelligence into an edge for every investor — through proven people, pattern-revealing technology, and the conviction that comes from knowing better."
Why it works: Directly maps to the three expressions — Know Who (proven people), Know More (pattern-revealing technology), Know Why (conviction). Anchors in the 20-year data moat. Ends with the tagline philosophy baked in. The word "edge" signals transformation, not just access.
Know Who
People

Proven People

5,000 PIs with public track records. Every trade visible. Verified, not claimed. The mission says "proven people" — this is Know Who.

→ "Connect you to leading investors"
becomes proven, not just connected
Know More
Technology

Pattern-Revealing Technology

AI trained on 20 years of real decisions. Not predictions — patterns. The mission says "pattern-revealing" — this is Know More.

→ "Give you tools"
becomes intelligence, not just tooling
Know Why
Conviction

Knowing Better

Long-term thinking. Restraint over hype. The conviction that comes from collective proof. The mission ends on "knowing better" — this is Know Why.

→ "Grow your knowledge"
becomes conviction, not just knowledge

Values — From Adjectives to Behaviors

The current values are adjectives. The optimized versions are behaviors — things you can test copy and product decisions against. "Does this add clarity or noise?" is a real filter. "Keeping it simple" is not.

Where Vision / Mission / Values Live in the System

The brand platform has five layers. The current V/M/V sit at the Truth + Philosophy layer — but they sound like a campaign from 2011. Here's the correct mapping.

Brand Truth
Collectively Proven
Internal. Never said aloud. The strategic insight — why eToro wins.
← Vision lives here
"Every investor has the intelligence to invest with conviction" — this IS the truth made aspirational.
Philosophy
Know Better
The invisible operating system. Governs tone, decisions, what we show and refuse to do.
← Mission lives here
"Turn 20 years of collective intelligence into an edge" — this is the philosophy in action.
Tagline
Know Better.
Permanent. On everything. Two words, double meaning.
← Values are the operating manual
Values ensure every team member, every piece of copy, every product decision passes the Know Better filter.
Campaign
All for one.
Time-bound. 2026 emotional heart. Rotates while tagline endures.
V/M/V don't live here — campaigns are tactical executions.
Expressions
Know More · Know Who · Know Why
One expression per touchpoint. Cumulative effect = Know Better.
Each optimized value now maps to at least one expression (see tags above).

Words to Use / Words to Kill

Applied specifically to the vision, mission, and values language. Based on the Know Better vocabulary palette from the brand platform.

✦ Use — embodies Know Better
intelligence conviction collective proven pattern signal clarity investor edge compounds resilient verified long-term AI-powered track record
✕ Kill — the old world
simple transparent open trade (as lead verb) tools empower democratize easy fun exciting social network tips copy trading bullish accessible

Know Better Escalates With Membership

The optimized values map naturally to the membership ladder. Each tier unlocks a deeper expression of "Know Better."

Standard
Start knowing better.
Core platform. Basic Tori AI. Social feed. Smart Portfolios. Access to the collective.
Plus
Know more than the market expects.
Unlimited Tori AI. "Why Is It Moving" insights. Research data. Weekly analysis.
Premium
Know who shapes the market.
1:1 consultations. Premium analyst reports. Premium-only community. Direct PI access.
Elite
Know why the best invest differently.
Bespoke research. Direct strategist access. Investor retreats. Private-market deal flow.
Notice the escalation: Standard = collective access (Know Better begins). Plus = intelligence edge (Know More). Premium = people layer (Know Who). Elite = conviction + philosophy (Know Why). Each tier deepens the relationship from access → intelligence → people → conviction.
