# PHAT FOODTECH — POST-KICKOFF ACTION DOC
**Meeting Date:** Tuesday, Jan 28, 2026
**Attendees:** Assaf (CEA), Ofir Ardon (CEO)
**Prepared by:** Riley PM

## MEETING OUTCOMES

### Strategic Direction Confirmed

| Decision | Outcome |
|----------|---------|
| **B2B vs B2C** | B2B ingredients brand first. Build architecture that allows B2C consumer line later ("powered by PHAT" model). |
| **Name "Phat"** | Open to change. No emotional attachment. Wants options that work globally and don't require explanation. |
| **Positioning** | Loves "Third Pillar of Dairy" direction. Wants to own the science credibility without feeling clinical. |
| **Tone** | "Confident but not cocky. Smart but accessible. Not another food tech startup — the company that solved the problem." |

### Timeline Clarity

| Date | Milestone |
|------|-----------|
| **Early Feb (~Feb 5-7)** | Board wants to see brand direction progress. Not final, but "we're on track" evidence. |
| **Feb 24** | Soft deadline. Real pressure is board confidence, not hard launch. |
| **Post-Feb** | Potential investor conversations where brand clarity helps. |

### Interviews Locked

| Person | Role | Date | Focus |
|--------|------|------|-------|
| **Dr. Sima Samadja-Sturz** | CTO | Wed, Jan 29 | Technical differentiation, product roadmap, what makes the science defensible |
| **Prof. Inna Khozin-Goldberg** | Science Advisor | TBD (Ofir connecting) | Algae expertise, academic credibility angle |

### Competitive Intel Gathered

Ofir's view on competitors:

| Competitor | Ofir's Take |
|------------|-------------|
| **Savor** | "They have the hype. We have the biology. Their process is industrial chemistry — ours is nature accelerated." |
| **Melt&Marble** | "Good science, no story. They talk to food scientists, not decision makers." |
| **Nourish** | "Meat-focused. Not really competing for same buyers." |

**Key insight:** Ofir sees Savor as the real competitor for mindshare. Wants to be the "credible science" alternative to their "moonshot marketing."

### Customer Relationships Revealed

- **Danone:** Active conversations. Irini Giziaki (Open Innovation) is warm. They've done preliminary taste tests.
- **Strauss:** Motty Segal testimonial is real — they're in exploratory partnership talks.
- **Oatly:** No direct contact yet. Ofir sees them as ideal target but no intro.

### Concerns Surfaced

| Concern | Implication |
|---------|-------------|
| "We're not a 'natural' company technically — we're engineered" | Messaging must thread needle: biological ≠ synthetic, but also not pretending to be farm-fresh |
| "The name needs to work in Hebrew contexts too" | Israel presence matters. Name can't be awkward in Hebrew. |
| "Our science team wants to be visible" | Brand may need to elevate founders/scientists, not hide them behind corporate voice |

## BOARD-READY DELIVERABLE (Target: Feb 5-7)

Ofir needs to show his board "we're on track." Recommend we deliver:

**Mini Brand Direction Deck (5-6 slides):**
1. Strategic positioning: "Third Pillar of Dairy"
2. Competitive differentiation: Why PHAT wins
3. Naming direction: 2-3 finalist candidates
4. Visual mood: Tone and territory (not final design)
5. Timeline to completion: Feb 24 path

This gives Ofir something concrete without committing us to final creative.

## OPEN ITEMS

| Item | Owner | Status |
|------|-------|--------|
| Prof. Khozin-Goldberg interview scheduling | Ofir | Pending intro |
| Hebrew linguistic check on name candidates | Creative | Needed before client share |
| Rate negotiation details | Hadar | Outstanding — Riley to follow up |

---

## RISK WATCH

| Risk | Mitigation |
|------|------------|
| Board meeting pulls Ofir's attention | Front-load client decisions to Feb 4 check-in |
| Name candidates don't clear Hebrew check | Start linguistic review early (Thu/Fri) |
| "Science credibility" and "accessible brand" tension | Test messaging with Sima interview — she's the technical voice |
